A week long camp where youth are challenge to grow individually and develop close bonds with their cabins. This week is a life altering experience for many.

full days and nights

This camp and staff were able to put a light back into my daughters eyes, as well as some self-confidence after a very trying year of mental health issues and suicide attempts. I have not seen my daughter smile as big as she did at the end of the week when we picked her up. The week she spent with her peers, Child and Youth, and the Y camp staff was transformative for her in so many ways, and I can’t even begin to thank them enough for the beginning of the beautiful journey that they have encouraged her to find and walk along.

Month of the military child

Every April, the Military Community collaborates to support and celebrate military children and their parents during Month of the Military Child. In addition, people across the nation wear purple to honor the military youth in our community for the sacrifices they have to make throughout their parent’s career. In Iowa, we specifically provide classrooms with celebration kits where military children can share purple up wristbands with their classmates.

regional mfe

At least once a year our team hosts an event, in each region, to encourage the growth of life skills in Military Youth.

FALL FAMILY FESTIVAL

Every October, our team works with community partners to celebrate fall with a Trunk or Treat!

Military Family Ball

We celebrate the dedication and strength of youth in Military Families. With help from our volunteers and community partners, military youth and families celebrate in style with crafts, dance, and dinner.

Always an amazing event. The amount of work that goes in to creating this event is massive and is always well received by the kids and adults alike.. And it’s for that reason that we (the American Legion riders) will always be present.
